Your visit

What happens at your first visit

A relaxed visit, not a sales pitch. Here is what we cover together.

We get to know you

A conversation about your smile goals, dental history and any questions you have been carrying around. This is your time.

A thorough examination

A full orthodontic assessment of your teeth, bite and jaw alignment, with a digital iTero scan. No goopy impressions.

Your treatment options

We walk you through every option available to you — braces, Invisalign or other treatments — and the pros and cons of each for your case.

Straight answers on cost

A realistic estimate for your case and a walk through your payment options, before you decide anything.

Questions about your first visit

Do I need to bring anything to my first appointment?

If you have dental insurance, bring your card so we can check your orthodontic benefit. If you have prior X-rays or orthodontic records, bring those too. Otherwise, just bring yourself and your questions. You can also fill in the new patient form ahead of time to save a few minutes on arrival.

Patient forms

Will I need to commit to treatment at my first visit?

No. Your first visit is informational — a chance for us to meet you, for you to meet us, and to lay everything out clearly so you can make the right decision. Many patients go home, think it over and come back when they are ready.

Can I bring a family member or support person?

Of course. For children and teens we like having parents in the room so everyone hears the same information, and adult patients are welcome to bring a partner or family member.

Is a first visit available for children and teens too?

Yes — for patients of every age. We recommend children have their first orthodontic check-up at age 7, or at the first sign of a potential issue. Adults are equally welcome; it is never too late to start.
