Board-certified orthodontist

Meet Dr. Grace Chung, DDS

Working alongside Dr. Fung, caring for patients of every age

Dr. Grace Chung is a board-certified orthodontist, and she joined Straight Finish Orthodontics to work alongside Dr. Shauna Fung in Brooklyn.

She treats patients of every age — interceptive care for children whose jaws are still growing, comprehensive treatment for teenagers and adults, and interdisciplinary cases where the orthodontics has to be coordinated with other dental work.

Education

Dr. Chung was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. She completed her dental education at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, graduating among the top of her class.

Her love for the east coast brought her back to New York, where she completed her orthodontic training at the State University of New York School of Dental Medicine in Buffalo. Orthodontics is a specialty: it takes a full residency beyond dental school, and only that training lets a dentist call themselves an orthodontist.

She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Board of Orthodontics, and the North Eastern Society of Orthodontists.

What that means for you

Both of the orthodontists here are board certified. Certification is voluntary — most orthodontists never sit for it — and it means an independent board has reviewed the cases the doctor actually finished, not just the training they completed.

This is still a deliberately small, low-volume practice. A second orthodontist means more appointment times and more availability when something breaks, without handing you to a rotating roster of doctors who have never seen your case.

Dr. Chung speaks English and Korean.
